WordPress already did the hard part for you. But, there are some SEO features that aren’t implemented in WordPress core. You can easily archeive these features by installing plugins.

It is totally up to you that what type of plugins you need to install in order to get a better search engine ranking. But try to keep the amount to minimum so that you won’t crash your server. Today, we are going to look into 10 WordPress plugins that will increase your search engine ranking.

1. All in One SEO Pack

This plugin enables certain modifications to your WordPress blog to achieve Search Engine Optimization. For example, you can customize your post title, post description and post tags for individual post. Furthermore, this plugin also has features such as auto generates Cononical URLS for your entire WordPress site and select index/noindex for various archives pages.

2. Broken Link Checker

This plugin will monitors links in your site and list out links that don’t work or any missing images. The reason why this plugin is essential is because you may write an article and link to www.domain.com. This link may goes down in future and become dead ends for search engine. By using this plugin, you can get notifications immediately and remove these dead ends.

3. Google XML Sitemaps Generator

This plugin will create a Google sitemaps compliant XML-Sitemap of your WordPress blog. A sitemap will help search engine spiders to crawl your content. The generated sitemap also supported by other search engine such as Yahoo, MSN and Ask.com.

4. SEO Friendly Images

SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress optimization plugin which automatically updates all images with proper alt and title attributes. By having a proper alt and title tag for your images, you can get more traffic from Google Image Search. This blog had gain quite a large number of traffic from Google Image Search by doing so.

5. No Self Pings

Although internal linking in your own site help navigate user to your posts, but it actually decrease your page rank because of the self pings effect. This plugin will eliminate this effect by removing all pingbacks from own site and only receive back links from other sites.

6. Enforce www. Preference

One of the important search engine fact is that search engines will treat www.domain.com and domain.com as two different site. You can easily overcome this issue by enforcing this plugin. Note: All in One SEO Pack will overcome this issue for you. Make sure you check the Canonical option.

7. Platinum SEO Pack

This plugin covers all the features of All in One SEO Pack, but it does include more options compare to All in One SEO Pack. For example, it adds index, noindex, follow or nofollow, noodp, noydir, noarchive, and nosnippet meta tags to any post/page. But, most of my clients prefer All in One SEO Pack as they are used to it and reluctant to change.

8. SEO Smart Links

SEO Smart Links can automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your posts. This will help navigating your visitors to other posts. The interlinking process happens automatically and what you need to do is configure it through the administration settings panel.

9. SEO Slugs

Long URL may have a better ranking in search engines because it will contain more keywords. But search engines like Google tends to ignore some common keywords such as “you”, “a”, “the”, and “what”. Removing these keywords will improve your search engine ranking. This plugin will automatically remove these unused common keywords for you.

10. Robots Meta

Robots Meta enables users to control which pages/posts can be indexed and which can’t. For example, you may want to prevent indexing of your search results or your category pages. It is because some search engines will see them as duplicate content and decrease your page rank.
CrunchBase Information on Automattic

<strike>
</strike>

Gmail Priority Inbox Launches

Google

email

gmail

inbox

Today, Google will begin rolling out Priority Inbox for Gmail, a new feature for managing massive amounts of e-mail. Your inbox will never be the same again.

Priority Inbox is Google’s attempt to solve the e-mail woes of Gmail power users. At its core, the feature is an algorithm; Priority Inbox uses information such as keywords, the people you e-mail the most and your e-mail habits to select the most pressing e-mails in your inbox. Those e-mails are brought to the top of your Gmail and marked as important so you deal with them first.

Priority Inbox is also an adaptive algorithm. Marking items as important or unimportant teaches the system what types of messages you deem the most urgent. You can also use Gmail’s filters to automatically mark certain messages as important (for example, from your boss or your spouse),

The new feature appears as a new menu item just above the “Inbox” link. Instead of indicating how many unread e-mails you have in your inbox, Priority Inbox only displays how many priority e-mails still require your attention. These appear at the top of Gmail as “Important and unread.”

The second layer of the new layout is your starred e-mails. These messages appear in their own section under the Priority Inbox. The goal is to get users to star important e-mails they have read but for whatever reason still need in their inboxes. Under the “Starred” section is “Everything else,” which contains the rest of your unarchived inbox.

The Impact of the Priority Inbox

During the many months of testing the feature internally, the search giant found that users spent 16% less time reading insignificant e-mail. If you do the math, that’s about a full week’s worth of time saved. According to Google, once someone switches to Priority Inbox, he or she never needs or wants to go back.

We can see why. We’ve had the chance to test out Priority Inbox for the last few days and discuss the new feature with Gmail Product Director Keith Coleman, and we’re impressed. Our inboxes get filled with hundreds of e-mails daily, but only a few of them require our immediate attention. Even with dozens of Gmail filters, important messages often get lost in the pile, leading to lost opportunities or missed meetings.

Priority Inbox, while not perfect, is a dramatic step toward solving that problem. Important messages bubble to the top, while e-mails that still require attention can sit in the Starred section until they’re addressed. It basically takes the Gmail Multiple Inboxes feature and adds a smart algorithm for cherry picking the threads that require your attention.

Coleman says that the company has been working on the feature for 18 months, but the original version of Gmail had something similar to this before it launched, but was removed because it simply wasn’t ready for mass consumption. Now it is refined enough for use by all.

Source : Mashable
CrunchBase Information on Google

New Digg Goes Live For Everyone

Social Web

digg

new digg

social links

social networking

The social link sharing site that has watched its once-meteoric rise to popularity level off over the last couple years, is relaunching today as it attempts to surge to greater heights — with an added focus on making the site better for publishers as well as users. Digg v4 will be rolling out over the next few hours, and brings some major changes that could totally change the dynamic of the site. Plenty of invites have been distributed over the last couple months, and we posted an exclusive preview back in May, but for most people this will be the first time they’ve experienced ‘New Digg’ for themselves.

The biggest change to come in Digg v4 is the increased emphasis on social. When you first sign in, you’ll be walked through a flow inviting you to begin following other users, both from a series of lists curated by Digg and from friends on your Facebook, Twitter, and Google accounts (which you can easily connect with). Once you’ve done this, you’ll get to the real meat of Digg. Which, as it happens, looks a lot like the old Digg.

As with the Digg you’re used to, you’ll see a stream of recent stories filling up most of the page, with ten top stories in a sidebar on the right. But there’s one key difference: each of these stories has been Dugg by one of your friends (or sponsored by an advertiser). Likewise, the stories on the right hand side of the screen represent the stories that have been dugg most by your friends over the last day or so.

But fear not, Digg diehards — the Digg you’ve come to know and love is still readily accessible at the top of the page, via the ‘Top News’ section. Clicking this tab will transition over to a version of Digg that’s much more like the current version, with recent news and Top News as submitted across all of Digg.

Other key changes include the link submission process, which is much more straightforward than it used to be. Before now if you wanted to submit a link to Digg, you had to provide an image and description to go along with it. Now these will be automatically added, the same way they are when you add a link to Facebook.

Of course, there’s still one big question: will it work? At this point I’m skeptical, but it won’t be clear for some time. In order for this to lead to lead to the resurgence Digg needs, user behavior is going to have to change, and it’s going to need to engage more casual users. The site has long been dominated by power users who account for many of the stories that hit the front page — now there’s much more emphasis on what your friends have shared. Which assumes, of course, that you friends are actually sharing things on Digg, which is hardly a given. That said, you can also follow celebrity and publisher accounts, like the TechCrunch Digg profile right here to help flesh out your feed of stories.

This launch has been a long time coming — it was supposed to launch back in 2009. In April, Digg founder Kevin Rose took over as CEO, replacing Jay Adelson — at the time we were hearing that he was unsatisfied with the progress of New Digg, which had already been much delayed.
CrunchBase Information on Digg

How a domain expires

Web

domaining

Domains

expired domains

Contrary to popular belief, domains do not expire when they say they do. If the owner of a domain does not renew by the expiration date of the domain, the domain goes into “expired” status. For 40 days, the domain is in a grace period where all services are shut off, but the domain owner may still renew the domain for a standard renewal fee. If a domain enters this period, it is a good first indicator that it may not be renewed, but since the owner can re-register without penalty, it can also just be a sign of laziness or procrastination.

After 40 days are up, the domain’s status changes to “redemption period”. During this phase, all WhoIs information begins disappearing, and more importantly, it now costs the owner an additional fee to re-activate and re-register the domain. The fee is currently around $100, depending on your registrar. When a domain enters its redemption period, it’s a good bet the owner has decided not to renew.

Finally, after the redemption period, the domain’s status will change to “locked” as it enters the deletion phase. The deletion phase is 5 days long, and on the last day between 11am and 2pm Pacific time, the name will officially drop from the ICANN database and will be available for registration by anybody.

The entire process ends exactly 75 days after the listed expiration date. For an even more detailed explanation, read the article Inside a Drop Catcher’s War Room.

Installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Dell Inspiron 1564[how to]

Solution

dell 1564

dell inspiron

mac

mac osx

osx

snow leopard

If you have Inspiron 1564 (Intel HD Graphics one), you still not able to install graphics driver but rest all will work. we need Snow leopard distro , it contains modified kernel 10.6.1 thats running pretty fine and after installation we can also upgrade to 10.6.2 via combo upgrade… 1. Search for “Cameron Diaz and screensavers,” and the risk doubles, Marcus added.

As it has for the last three years, McAfee compiled search phrases that contained names of prominent celebrities, professional athletes, politicians and other newsmakers, then calculated the percentage of the resulting sites tagged as dangerous by the company’s SiteAdvisor software.

SiteAdvisor is a free plug-in for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Mozilla’s Firefox that flags risky sites — those serving up malware, adware, spyware and the like — in a search result list.

Diaz replaced Jessica Biel, last year’s top name bait. Biel fell two spots to third on McAfee’s list this year.

Actress Julia Roberts placed second on the Most Dangerous list, while supermodel Gisele Buendchen took fourth. Brad Pitt, the highest ranking man on the list and one of only two on the top 10, held the fifth spot.

“It’s a simple fact. The bad guys read the same news as the good guys,” said Marcus as he explained why some celebrities ranked higher than others. He attributed Diaz’s prominence to the fact that McAfee’s list was composed around the time when she was in two currently-showing films, “Knight and Day” and “Shrek Forever After.”

Attackers and scammers trade on the names of prominent people and topical events to dupe users into visiting malicious sites, to open malicious e-mails, and to click on malicious links embedded in Twitter messages, said Marcus.

“Dangerous searches relate to the news of the day,” he said. “In 2008, politicians like President Obama and [former Governor] Sarah Palin were the most abused. We expect politicians to be abused in the future.”

Obama was at No. 49 on McAfee’s list this year, while Palin was right behind the president at No. 50.

Others on the dangerous list included tennis player Andy Roddick (No. 14), and singers Lady Gaga (No. 37) and teenager Justin Bieber (No. 46).

“We’re not saying stay away from searching for celebrities like Cameron Diaz,” said Marcus. “We’re saying be aware of the broad use of their names, and know that criminals are looking for a way to social engineer you, and this is the type of attack they’ll use.”

McAfee released the fourth annual most-dangerous celebrity list Thursday just minutes before it announced Intel was buying the company for nearly $8 billion . Before the interview with Marcus, a McAfee spokeswoman made it clear he would not take any questions about the acquisition.

Gregg Keizer covers Microsoft, security issues, Apple, Web browsers and general technology breaking news for Computerworld. We didn’t stop there, and we don’t have plans to stop now. We see joining Google as a way to supersize our vision and supercharge our passion.”

Like.com launched in 2006 from the remains of Riya, a facial recognition search engine. While that company is now gone, Shah used the technology behind it to build Like.com’s visual shopping comparison engine.

Recently, Google has been experimenting with visual search and image recognition. In 2009, Google launched Similar Images, a tool that uses image recognition technology to filter image results by similarity. The tech titan also overhauled Image Search last month, but the Like.com acquisition indicates the company wants to do more with image recognition.

According to TechCrunch, Google paid upwards of $100 million for the visual shopping engine. Nobody could quite agree, and it’s one reason for the demise of Google Wave. The company is disappointed with the user adoption and has announced it will discontinue developing Wave as a stand-alone product.

Google Wave was largely an Australian developed product. Google will maintain the service through the end of the year and will roll the technology into other projects, according to senior vice-president for operations, Urs Hölzle.

Jonathan Yarmis, a senior research fellow with analyst Ovum, said Wave’s strength — its lack of definition — was also its greatest weakness as you could do any of the things incorporated into Wave in other, more accessible, fashions. “The ongoing growth of things like Facebook and Twitter probably killed Wave, as conversations that might have taken place there instead migrated to either a social platform — Facebook – or a more conversational tool – Twitter”, said New York-based Yarmis. “Even Google Buzz played a role in Wave’s death as the two were somewhat similarly targeted but Buzz, being more Twitter-like, was easier to understand and embrace.”

Ovum went so far as to call Google a ‘one trick pony’, referring to the company’s dominance in search and advertising.

“Everything else is merely distraction, or survives in its ability to feed the advertising beast, which represents 98 per cent of Google’s revenue. Of course, fortunately for Google, that one trick is a really good trick.”

The analyst thinks Wave may be reincarnated in very different fashion if Google launches its rumoured Facebook competitor.

“If and when Google introduces its platform — and really, it’s just a question of when — this would have obsoleted Wave anyhow,” Yarmis said. “This way they just put a bullet in it now, so when they introduce the next platform, the focus isn’t on how this co-exists with Wave or what this means for Wave or anything like that. Wave is gone, will be quickly forgotten and when Google does the next thing, for the most part no one will focus on Wave.”
CrunchBase Information on Google
CrunchBase Information on Facebook
CrunchBase Information on Twitter

Is Facebook trying to be enemy of Foursquare?

Facebook

Foursquare

f8 conference

geolocation

gowalla

location

location crown

At this point, pretty much every tech industry insider knows that Facebook is going to jump into the geolocation game. First rumored to be launching at Facebook’s F8 conference back in April, the exact date of Facebook’s location launch has been up in the air.

Yet another report, this time from CNET, pegs the release of Facebook’s geolocation product to be “within weeks.” The difference between this report and previous reports though is the that it has some specifics about what the product will look like. From the CNET piece:

“It’s going to take the form of an application programming interface (API) for third-party companies on the Facebook developer platform, integrating existing “check-in” start-ups more deeply into the massive social-networking service and in turn permitting location-aware data to become a part of existing platform applications.”

Essentially, this product isn’t going to be a clone of Foursquare, but will integrate it and other third-party checkin services into a bigger platform that will permeate the site.

Some more good tidbits: Facebook is partnering with Localeze to create a directory of places similar to Twitter Places (also powered by Localeze). Facebook now owns Hot Potato, a checkin service focused around what people are doing. Finally, Facebook offered $120 million or so to acquire Foursquare (confirming what we’ve heard), but walked away from negotiations when Foursquare asked for 25% more.

Relationship Status: It’s Complicated

Because of the specificity of the CNET report, we’re inclined to believe that the release of Facebook’s geolocation product is indeed imminent. Assuming that, the question remains: What should Foursquare do?

Facebook and Foursquare have been talking for a while now about the social network’s upcoming geo product and how Foursquare’s massive geodata would fit in. Assuming it takes the form of an API for companies to integrate existing checkins into the Facebook platform, it places Foursquare in a delicate position.

1. The company can work with Facebook, the path it seems to be taking. This gives Foursquare access to a massive traffic-driving platform that could expose millions of new users to the service overnight. It won’t be left behind by its competitors, which are all almost certainly going to take part in the social network’s new API.However, the price that Foursquare must pay Facebook is heavy. It must hand over huge chunks of valuable geodata to the social network, and it risks being completely overshadowed by the Facebook machine, which could turn it into a small-time player by the time the dust settles.Again, much of this depends on exactly what shape the Facebook geolocation API and how the company delivers the location experience to its users.

2. The company can reject Facebook. This would prevent it from being swallowed whole by the social network’s platform, but it would immediately become a “Foursquare vs. Facebook & friends” battle, with the “friends” being Gowalla and a slew of other location services. Could Foursquare really win that battle?

While Facebook (and probably Foursquare) will tout the social network’s entry into geolocation as a mutually beneficial move, the fact-of-the-matter is that the social network is probably giving Foursquare and its competitors no choice in the matter. It’s a “be assimilated or be destroyed” scenario for these checkin startups. With those kinds of options on the table, Foursquare never really had a choice in the first place.

Facebook and Foursquare’s relationship? We’re going to say “It’s Complicated.”

Source :Mashable

CrunchBase Information on Facebook

CrunchBase Information on Foursquare

Facebook steals Foursquare’s location crown

Facebook

Foursquare

gowalla

location crown

place pages

virtual

Facebook this week launched “Places,” a service that allows any user to “check in” to restaurants, stores and other local businesses — thereby sharing their location with friends. While the company’s location product has been rumored for months, with hints of “place pages” and the ability to add your location to an update, there was little reason to believe that Facebook would implement the “check-ins” model popularized by Gowalla, Foursquare and their ilk.

But the social networking behemoth did indeed take inspiration from these services — the only features Facebook declined to duplicate were the “Mayorships,” merit badges and other incentives earned by users who check in to Foursquare and similar services regularly.

Facebook is by no means taking a half-step into the location business — while representatives from Gowalla and Foursquare were both invited to talk at the Places launch, there’s little doubt that Facebook aims to compete directly with these startups by cloning their features wholesale.

Winning by the numbers

Facebook’s advantage over Foursquare derives largely from its size. Foursquare declared in July that it had exceeded 1 million check-ins per day — but with more than 500 million users, Facebook could match that figure if only 0.2 percent of its members check in daily.

In short, it’s inevitable that Facebook will surpass Foursquare in the check-ins race, perhaps in a matter of weeks. For Facebook, this massive audience is the gift that keeps on giving.

Location-based services will thrive if they’re able to attract a “critical mass” of small businesses willing to reward regular customers — and those businesses will surely choose to create a page on Facebook rather than take a chance on less prominent startups.

Likewise, developers building location-based services want to attract as many users to their applications as possible. So they, too, will choose to tap into Facebook rather than its less popular rivals.

A boon for Foursquare?

It’s possible to conceive that Facebook’s location product will actually accelerate the growth of Foursquare and Gowalla. As Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley told VentureBeat, the move provides market validation for the upstarts.

“If Facebook thinks that location is a good idea, then we are on to something,” Crowley said.

Others might argue that Facebook’s entry into the location space will expose mainstream users to the benefits of location sharing, leading to accelerated growth for all location-based startups.

I’m unconvinced. The counter-argument: Now that the majority of social network users can check in through an existing Facebook account, why would they seek the same service elsewhere? Is the prospect of earning badges and other virtual prizes enough to win over the masses?

Far from over

Foursquare and Gowalla certainly won’t be “killed” by Facebook Places — far from it. Location-based services is a red-hot market in which even the smallest players will be acquired by bigger companies merely for their technical prowess.

But the launch will limit the potential of these early leaders — being No. 1 in the location space is no longer a reasonable expectation for any company not called Facebook.

Source:CNN
CrunchBase Information on Facebook
CrunchBase Information on Foursqaure
CrunchBase Information on Gowalla

Make Money Uploading Files : Filestrack.com

Earn Online

Website Review

file hosting

file sharing

filestrack

make money

Very clean and comprehensible as a whole, displays a panel through which the visitor is enabled to upload up to ten files at once. I tried more than 3 times to Delete My facebook account, But All because of so much Confusing Facebook Setting i just deactivated my account. I join back Facebook to catch up all the updates .And now, I return to my old habit again. I usually type “fa…” in the browser and it automatically points to “http://www.facebook.com”. Spend a few minutes check for updates, see anyone upload new photos, any new supdates, poke here poke there. No new updates? close browser.

Maximum time i spend visiting interesting links and news from Networkedblog, all those streams about social media news(mashable), sometime domaining and all those social web updates .

(10 minutes later)

Open browser, type “fa…” and points to “http://www.facebook.com”. Rinse and repeat. For almost 2 Year starting from 2007 i kept my Home page to Facebook.com .

This is so pointless.

And this time, I decide to quit Facebook permanently. And here are my reasons why.

Social circle is not really expanding

I have almost 200 friends on my contact list. But I am not keeping in touch with all of them. I am only keeping in touch with 10-20 friends(Max). The rest are inactive.

My contact list is still expanding, however the real social circle remains the same. Do you send them personal messages? I bet you did not even contact 10% of your list.

If are you looking for someone, you’ll find a way to reach them

Facebook’s Terms Of Service are completely one-sided

Let’s start with the basics. Facebook’s Terms Of Service state that not only do they own your data (section 2.1), but if you don’t keep it up to date and accurate (section 4.6), they can terminate your account (section 14). You could argue that the terms are just protecting Facebook’s interests, and are not in practice enforced, but in the context of their other activities, this defense is pretty weak. As you’ll see, there’s no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt. Essentially, they see their customers as unpaid employees for crowd-sourcing ad-targeting data.

Distractions

Internet is full of distractions, and I do not need another source to diverse my attention.

Life goes on with/without Facebook

My life won’t turn upside down if I quit Facebook. I might get to know more real friends by socializing. Where is the good old yam cha session?

Can you meet new friends in Facebook? no you don’t. Get out and get to know more friends.

Catching up on useless updates

I login Facebook to check status updates every hour or two. I am often disappointed with no new notification. I am wasting time.

Private photo album sucks!

Photo albums become less interesting when all the hot chicks know how to use use privacy settings. Most tags are cartoons and ads. Business people finally caught up ha…

Quizzes

This annoying application still pops up from time to time.

Excessive updates

I do not need to know what you had for lunch or who hate you or wtf is worng, right to you. It’s none of my business. We know All those quotes are copy paste, all those drama are not your real drama LOL ..

“Zzzzz… I am so tired”

Stop Facebook and go take a rest . Sometimes these people really get on my nerves. Only share something if you think it’s useful for others.

Too many people, too much information…

… and most of those information are useless

Everyone you hated and who hated you in high school suddenly wants to be friends

Do you have anyone that you hated who is in your friend list now? .. Naatak (nepali word for drama)

You have enough friends in real life

How many friends do you meet up every week? Or even say, monthly?
In my circle of friends, I usually meet up only 10-15 friends every month, unless there’s huge gathering or similar event.

Everyone you hate now wants to be friends

Ha!

Less is more

Now I have more time to focus on things that matters.

Here’s a novel idea for keeping in touch with friends

Pick up your phone and make real contact with one old friend now

More reasons to quit facebook

The Blekko Search Engine: Prepared to kill Google?

Google

Tech

Web

blekko

blekko search

google killer

search engine

The Blekko Search Engine Prepares To Launch and challenge Google’s authority over search It was not a one day job to build a brand as famous and successful as the Google. The web search has become synonymous with the Google brand now and there is probably no one that can challenge the authority of the Google brand over the web search. Microsoft’s try in the form of the bing search engine has somewhat brought down the popularity of the Google search just a little but there is hardly any chance that it will out shine the Google web browser in the near future.

But now Rich Skrenta, who created the first computer virus (Elk Cloner), co-founded the Open Directory Project, and co-founded online news site Topix, has taken the biggest challenge of his career – taking on Google in search. Skrenta left Topix last June. He started his new company, Blekko, almost immediately, along with five others from the Topix core team. They raised $2 million in seed funding in September from Baseline Ventures, two early Googlers (David DesJardins and Jeremy Wenokur), and the founding team.

Skrenta, who is a very media savvy, won’t say much about how he’s going to tackle search. He says they are looking at improvements on the back end (indexing and query serving) as well as the user search experience itself. Beyond that, he says we have to wait. And it might be a long wait at that. The company, Skrenta says, may not have a public prototype available until 2009.
CrunchBase Information on Blekko
CrunchBase Information on Google

Facebook Dislikes Button is Fake [WARNING]

Facebook

dislike button

dislikes

facebook dislikes

facebook scam

A new Facebook scam is making the rounds, and it’s taking advantage of a non-existent Facebook feature many users crave: the dislike button. It’s possible that Facebook will implement a similar feature in the future, but right now it simply doesn’t exist.

So, if you see a status update containing the message “I just got the Dislike button, so now I can dislike all of your dumb posts lol!!” or “Get the official DISLIKE button now” followed by a link, you should know that it’s another one of many scams which aim to extract your personal data.

If you click on the link, you’ll land on an elaborate Facebook dislike button “install” page (note that if the dislike button were real, you wouldn’t need to install it; Facebook would automatically add it to user profiles). If you follow the instructions, you’ll be asked to give the app permissions to run, after which you’ll be asked to complete a survey, similar to the surveys found in many other scams we’ve seen recently.

Interestingly enough, the app ultimately points you to an existing Firefox add-on called FaceMod, which dubs itself the “Facebook Dislike Button (the Original),” but the add-on doesn’t seem to be connected to the scam. We haven’t verified whether the add-on works as advertised or if it’s dangerous, but one thing is certain: it is not coming from Facebook and it is not an official Facebook dislike button.

As usual, we advise you not to click on suspicious links on Facebook, especially if they promise something that sounds impossible or unlikely. Do not give away your personal information, unless you’re absolutely sure why and who you’re giving it to. If you’ve fallen for the scam, remove the offending app(s) from your Facebook profile; furthermore, remove the related message from your status, news feed, and your Likes and Interests in the “Edit my Profile” menu.

Live Video Channel of Facebook

Facebook

facebook channel

facebook video

live channel

live video

Facebook, which is already widely used as a platform for distributing live video, is making a play of its own with a new app called Facebook Live. It’s also embeddable, and the company will be testing it out when actress America Ferrera stops by at 6pm ET this evening.

It will be interesting to see how Facebook goes about promoting the feature. Might we see notifications in the News Feed when a big guest stops by the company’s HQ? That would give the site an opportunity to aggregate some huge audiences around live video, though it remains to be seen if that’s in the cards or if this is more of a PR move to make the company feel more personable.

Either way, it’s a nice boon for Livestream, which has been chosen as the official live video partner for the project.

BlackBerry assures India on access to services

Gadgets

blackberry

india

Research In Motion, the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, will provide technical solutions next week, that will help Indian security agencies access its encrypted data, a government source said on Friday. “They have assured that they will come with some technical solution for messenger and enterprise mail next week.
