GoPro Quadcopter Captures First Video
No additional details about the drone have emerged, but GoPro has posted its first video captured by the drone. And if it’s an indicator of things to come, yowza!
The two-minute video, which you can watch above, was captured with a “developmental prototype of GoPro’s quadcopter and stabilization system.” GoPro also notes that the video “has not been stabilized in post-production.”
The drone is using, which is already for sale and quite popular. GoPro has been a key part of drones available from other companies, and Woodman recently said his company is turning to drones to help push GoPro cameras in a new direction.
The maximum resolution available on the video is 1440p, so there’s no evidence of 4K capability yet, but expect that to be an option when the drone is available – a lot of drone companies are pushing for 4K video.
Nothing has been confirmed, but it’s rumored GoPro enlisted the help of DJI to build the drone. DJI and GoPro, according to Forbes, were once in negotiations to build a drone together. Due to disagreements about the business plan, however, a deal was never reached.
